What changed for India
- Prasidh Krishna is out. His place was always subject to fitness, and the BCCI confirmed on 30 October that he needs more time to recover from a hamstring injury. He is set to play for India A instead, to build up for the Tests.
- Nitish Kumar Reddy plays the opener only. After the first ODI he joins India A for their final four-day game against New Zealand A, again with the Tests in mind.
- Auqib Nabi moves up. First named only for the last two games, the right-arm quick was added to the squad for the first three ODIs on 31 October.
- Captaincy switches mid-series. Shubman Gill leads in the first three matches. Shreyas Iyer takes over for the last two, with Ishan Kishan as his deputy.
New Zealand's ODI squads

First three ODIs
Mitchell Santner (captain), Tom Latham (wicketkeeper), Tim Seifert, Devon Conway, Will Young, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Nathan Smith, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher, Blair Tickner
Fourth and fifth ODIs
Mitchell Santner (captain), Mitchell Hay (wicketkeeper), Tim Seifert (wicketkeeper), Finn Allen, Will Young, Nick Kelly, Dean Foxcroft, Michael Bracewell, Kristian Clarke, Lockie Ferguson, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher, Blair Tickner
What changed for New Zealand
- Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra are ruled out of the whole series. Chapman needs about two more weeks of rehab on his left hamstring, and Ravindra's right shoulder is not yet ready for full-intensity fielding.
- Tim Seifert now plays all five. He was originally picked for the last two games only.
- Henry Nicholls returns for the first three, fresh from a hundred in New Zealand's domestic one-day competition. Dean Foxcroft joins for the last two.
- Matthew Fisher is in for the full series as an extra bowling option, after first being named only for the last two games.
- Devon Conway misses the opener. He was concussed after colliding with Matt Henry at training at Eden Park on 3 November. Santner suggested Seifert would come in as a straight swap. Henry passed his concussion checks.
Fantasy pointers for the series
- Check the confirmed lineups at the toss. With split squads and late injuries on both sides, the playing XI can change from match to match.
- Eden Park has short straight boundaries, which tends to reward big hitters down the ground. Santner also expects some bounce for the fast bowlers, as seen in the T20Is.
- Watch for dew. The 3 pm starts mean the second innings runs into the evening, when the ball can get wet and harder for bowlers to grip.
- Plan for squad changes. Several players switch between the two halves of the series, so a regular pick in the first three games may not be available for the last two.

Squads are as announced by the BCCI and New Zealand Cricket up to 3 November 2026, and may change before each match.
